Edwina Lucille Humphrey

Edwina M. Humphrey, 91, of Raleigh, NC passed away comfortably and peacefully, surrounded by family on 12/16/2021 at Wake Medical Hospital. She was Born on Oct 16, 1930 in Wheeling, West Virginia and she is predeceased by her parents, Robert Hallum Murphy and Theo Simms Murphy, and her late husband Carl Curtis Humphrey. Edwina was very dedicated to Charles Bugg Elementary School, where she served in many roles during her employment from 1974-2009, retiring at age 79. She had a love for the children in the school and was an adopted “Grandmother” to many. The children at Charles Bugg elementary were a big part of her life. She would bring them home with her if the parents could not pick them up by required pick-up time and loved them like her own. Edwina enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, reading, and traveling. Her biggest love was for her Family and friends; however, she also had another love… The Duke Blue Devils. She was one of their biggest fans. In addition, she loved and supported the US Marine Corp. and had a deep love for our country. Survivors include her son, James Craig Parsons (wife – Diana); her daughter, Tana P. Bannister and husband, Sonny; her 3 grandsons, Shane Parsons and wife, Rhonda ,Jeremy Taylor, and Joshua Taylor and wife, Danielle; and her 2 granddaughters, Ashlyn and Alli and great-grandaughter Madelyn Grace Taylor. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 19,2021 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home: 1200 Benson Rd, Garner, NC 27529. The family will receive friends from 1:45 – 2:45 with the service starting at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. www.jdrf.or/donate
