Emily Elaine Burtchette Wilder peacefully passed away on November 13, 2024, surrounded by her family after battling abdominal cancer for a short period of time. She was born on October 5, 1953, to the late Willie Lee and Audrey Parrish Burtchette. She graduated Garner Senior High School in 1971 and then attended Hardbarger Business College. Upon graduation from Hardbarger Business College, she was employed as an administrative assistant with NC Utilities Commission until her retirement in 2012.
She was a lifelong member of Layden Memorial Methodist church, having served in many positions throughout the years. Her church and community support for those in need were a big part of her life. She was active in the Food Ministry, Hispanic Food Ministry, and Bread Ministry.
She is survived by her sister, Vicky (Bobby) Davis of Raleigh, North Carolina and her brother, Donald (Shyrl) Burtchette of The Villages, Florida; nieces and nephews, Melanie (John) Kraft of La Plata, Maryland; Kim (Shayne) Tressler of Bullock, North Carolina; Jennifer (Jimmie Long) of Chaptico, Maryland; Karley (Joe) and August Sgandurra of Saugerties, New York; Shayna Tressler of Wilmington, North Carolina; Hannah Kraft of La Plata, Maryland; Hunter (Claire Yancey) Tressler of Oxford, North Carolina; Abigail Kraft of La Plata, Maryland, and many beloved cousins.
She is predeceased by her parents, her daughter, Sharon Renee Wilder, and her fiancé, James Smith.
