Elaine Massengill Penny

GARNER - Elaine Massengill Penny, 67, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on June 19, 1944 in Four Oaks, Johnston County, the daughter of the late William Henry Bill Massengill and Ruth Allen Massengill. After graduating from the Four Oaks High School in 1962, she went to work at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh where she retired in June 1999 with 32+ years. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 5th at 11:00 am at Barbours Chapel Advent Christian Church in Four Oaks. Interment will be followed at the Massengill Family Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of nearly 46 years, Jerry Keith Penny and their two daughters, Wendy Ann Penny and fianc Michael Bottiggi and Terry P. Potter and her husband, William Dock , both of Willow Spring; two granddaughters, Bryce and Baylee Potter; her two loving and faithful pets, Buddy and Angel; one sister, Shirley Massengill Parker of Chesapeake, VA; two brothers, W. Gerald Massengill and wife, Juanita of Sutherland, VA and Ted W. Massengill and wife, Susan of Clayton, NC; and many special and caring nieces and nephews. Elaine was a very loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend with her heart and home always opened to family and friends.
