Elizabeth Smith Bright

September 22, 1929 — June 2, 2021

Elizabeth Smith (Yeargan) Bright, known as Lib, to her family and friends, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones to be with her Lord and Savior. Lib was born at the old Rex Hospital in Raleigh and grew up in Garner, North Carolina with her three sisters. After High School, she attended Beautician School and later was the co-owner of the Ridgewood Beauty Shop in Raleigh, North Carolina for over thirty years. Because she had no children of her own and because of her love for children she opened the Yeargan’s Daycare in her home in Garner. Lib’s first marriage was to Ed Crow Yeargan, they celebrated their life together until his passing in 1996. Years later she was married to Herlet Ray Bright up until her passing. She was a devoted wife, stepmother, sister, and aunt to her family, and a devoted Christian. She was a loving mother to her Stepson Michael Ray Bright and his wife Cora Fayenett Bright. She loved to cook for and entertaining her family and friends. She always greeted everyone with her big smile. She was happiest when helping and giving to others. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday at New Bethel Baptist Church, Garner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. She is survived by her sister, Edna Wells and her husband Ervin Wells, along with her direct family of three nieces, two nephews, and their many children. She was preceded in death by her sisters Dot Norris and Billie Wall. Lib loved horses and horseback riding with friends and family and loved showing her horses. She won numerous awards in equestrian competitions. She also enjoyed riding motorcycles with her first husband and their biker friends. She loved the beach, camping, and all kinds of travelling. But her biggest joy was the children in her life and taking them out on many adventures. The family gives special thanks to the dedicated caregivers at Heartland Hospice in Raleigh, Cadence Assisted Living of Garner, and Doctors Making Housecalls. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice of Raleigh.
