Ellen Thomas Johnson Maynard, 92, the daughter of the late Walter T. and Lida Selby Johnson died Friday. She was a faithful servant of the Lord who served in her church as choir director, Sunday school teacher, GA leader, pianist and organist for over 50 years. With her love of music she taught a generation how to sing and appreciate singing for the Lord. A loving mother and wife, she was a partner to her husband in farming and the operation of retail businesses for many years.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at New Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving: her sons, Don Donnie Maynard and wife Pat of Garner, Tom Tommy Maynard and wife, Etta of Raleigh; grandchildren, Mary Margaret Manlove and husband, Matthew of Garner, Coley J. Maynard and wife, Amy of Mebane and Steven M. Maynard and wife, Hollie of Angier; great granddaughters, Emma, Selby and Abby Maynard.She was predeceased by her husband, James Jimmy Maynard; sisters, Fannie Mae Johnson, Margaret Rand and Nina Daniel.The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner and at other times at the home of Donnie and Pat Maynard.
