Ellie attended a year of college but considered her self self-taught. She was a math whiz and could easily do calculations in her head. She loved history and was an avid reader. She would go to the Garner library once a week and check out books that peaked her interest. She loved crossword puzzles and worked the one in the Sunday paper every week. She was an avid bridge player and was active in her bridge club until her passing. She was one of the charter members of Aversboro Baptist Church.

In closing, I want to leave you all with this message of hope and inspiration: Even in the darkest of times, Mom always found a way to see the light of hope and optimism. Her resilience taught us that regardless of the challenges we face, there is always hope for a brighter future.
You loved and were so loved. Go in peace.
Smiles are contagious, please share a smile today and think of me.
