Elmer J. Cooper

Elmer J. Cooper, 84, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016.  His spouse, Inez, predeceased him on August 8, 2010.  His working career began at the age of 15 at the Palace and Ambassador theaters.  While attending Hugh Morson High School, he worked half days at Carolina Coach Company and attended night school at Hardbarger’s Business College and later was employed by Raleigh Savings and Loan.  At the age of 60, he retired from the Dorothea Dix Hospital Reimbursement Office with many happy years of retirement. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Susan Cooper of Garner and Jimmy and Dee Ann Cooper of Raleigh; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm on Tuesday, December 6, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road.  Burial will be private at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
