Elmer Trembacz, 72, died suddenly of cancer surrounded by his loving family on January 17, 2016 in Raleigh NC. Elmer was born October 22, 1943 in Chicago, IL to the late Elmer and Jenny (Ciepley) Trembacz. He grew up in Palatine, IL and served overseas in the Army as a microwave radio repairman in the Co. E 102d Signal Battalion. He was an expert in Rifle M-14 and received a Good Conduct medal and a National Defense Service medal. He went on to work for Pepper Construction for 25+ years. Elmer lived in Cary, IL for 20 years, moving to Huntley, IL in 1989. He relocated to Raleigh, NC in 1998, where he worked for Bovis Lend Lease Construction. Some of his projects included Kraft, Tellabs, Cisco, and NC State Veterinary Hospital. He retired from commercial construction as a senior superintendent in 2009. He loved golf, fishing and woodworking, but his top priority was always his family. He enjoyed going to the shooting range with his sons-in-law, and teasing his girls. Elmer is survived by the love of his life of 47 years, wife Carolyn (Schwind); daughters, Kathy Olson (Paul) of Apex, NC and Amy Smathers (Kevin) of Fuquay Varina, NC; two granddaughters Kelsey and Elizabeth Olson; sister Sharon Trampf of Huntley, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Norman Trampf. A memorial service will be held at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Garner, NC at 6pm on Thursday January 21st with a visitation to follow from 6:30-8pm.
