Elva Harper was born in Pikeville, Wayne County to Adrian Harper and Beatrice Aycock Harper. She grew up in Nahunta with 3 brothers, Fred, Afton and David. Graduating from Nahunta High School in 1950 she was named most athletic female for her basketball skills. After graduation Elva moved to Raleigh to attend King Business College. Always close to her family she had many happy adventures with her brother David, cousins and lifelong friends, In 1961 she married Robert V. Parker and began her own family while continuing her 25 year career at Nationwide Insurance Company. Elva and Robert were sealed in the Logan Temple, Logan Utah, on June 8, 1961and embarked on a life of service to the Lord. On May 16, 2017 Elva left us to rejoin her beloved husband “Bob”, Mom, Dad and brothers for eternity. She died as she lived, quietly, peacefully, with just a hint of humor. Surviving are her sons Matthew V. Parker (Deborah), Robert John Parker (Valerie), daughters Bonnie Louise Parker, Carolyn Parker Lassiter, several grandchildren great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many friends near and far. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1443 Aversboro Road, Garner 4:00 p.m. Saturday May 20. Visitation from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m at the church. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh on Monday, May 22 at 10:00 a.m.
