Elva Mae Ely

Elva Mae Ely, 80, passed away suddenly from a stroke. Elva was a devoted stay at home mom, who was the center of our family. Words can’t express how much her family will miss her. At the age of thirteen Elva met her future husband Reg and they were inseparable from that point on. As the mother of three sons, Mom was the best mother a son could ever ask for. Elva will always be remembered for the very special person that she was, and the many lives that she touched. She was the daughter of the late John and Sadie Van Aken. Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday Sept. 4, 2015 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Elva was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Melvina Deuel, Mary Van Aken and brothers, William and John Van Aken. Elva is survived by her husband of 59 years, Reg Ely; sons, Steven Ely and wife Eileen, Tim Ely and wife Debbie and Tom Ely and wife Kim; sisters, Grace Owen and husband Landon, Kathryn Reitano; brother, Henry Bryan and wife Anna Marie; four grandchildren Jennifer Murphy, Hannah Ely, Jack Ely and Nicholas Ely and one great-grandchild, Caillo Ely. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service from 2- 3 PM. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital P.O. Box 2151 501 St. Jude Pl.
