Elwood King, Jr.

GARNER – James Elwood King, Jr., 59, died Thursday. Born in Sampson County, he is the son of James Elwood King, Sr. and the late Mary Colwell King. Funeral Services will be 12:00 noon Monday at First Baptist Church of Garner. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm Monday at the Matthis Family Cemetery, Turkey, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-12:00, prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Anita King; daughter, Rebecca King of Raleigh; father, Elwood King, Sr. of Garner; sister, Tammie King Wood (Bran) of Raleigh, and nephews , Kyle and Hunter Wood. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Glenda King. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Optimist Club of Garner Basketball Program, P.O. Box 702, Garner, NC 27529.
