RALEIGH - Emalyne Ritchie Walls Catching went home to her Savior on July 14, 2022. She was born in Raleigh, NC to Crowell Preston Ritchie and Jennie Mallard Ritchie. She graduated from Broughton High School and attended Flora McDonald College, now St. Andrews College, and Peace Jr. College.
Emalyne retired from NC Housing Finance Agency as office manager and was very active in the State Employment Association. She was a member of the Raleigh Breakfast Optimist Club and served as president, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 67 in Cary, NC, and a member of the Millbrook Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Past Worthy Matron. She was also an active member of the 4th Branch.
Emalyne was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church of Raleigh, NC and a member of the Vanguard Class. She served as Deacon and helped with the Adult Fellowship Program for over 25 years. She was awarded Honorary Older Adult by the church. She also enjoyed helping in the church office answering the phone.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick E. Catching. She is survived by her sons, Tommy Walls and Larry Walls (Jan), grandchildren, Aurielle Poole (Matt), Brett Walls (Jamie) and Bradley Walls (Carletta) and 5 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 11am. Family will receive friends after the service. There will be a private burial for the family in the Church's Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friendship Fund at First Presbyterian Church 112 S. Salisbury St. Raleigh, NC 27601.
