RALEIGH –Emma Revels Parrish, 90, passed away July 7, 2018, in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by her family following a period of declining health. She had been an assisted-living resident at Gabriel Manor, Clayton. She was born Jan. 13, 1928, to Van Buren and Nancy Ann Williams Revels. Her siblings, Melvin Revels and Ruth R. Stephenson, preceded her in death. She was married for 29 years to Carl Glenwood Parrish, who passed away Jan. 7, 1976. She retired after working nearly 20 years for the State at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh. As an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Raleigh for more than 50 years, she faithfully served in the nursery and enjoyed many wonderful friendships with other church members. She enjoyed listening to Southern gospel music and family summer camping in the mountains when her children were young. She especially enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends as she was a gifted hostess and prepared homemade food for countless showers at her Church. Visitation will start at 1:00 pm on Wed., July 11, with funeral service following at 2:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Emma is survived by daughters Belinda Guy and husband Barry of Marietta, GA, Pam Hensley and husband Danny of Smithfield, and son, Terry Parrish and wife Katherine of Clayton and Indian Beach, NC; grandchildren Todd Guy (Danyelle), Tiffany Guy Holland (Simon), Amanda Parrish Hubany (David), Joey Parrish (Brandy), Brittany Hensley, Spencer Hensley (fiancé, Bri), and Justin Hensley; eight great-grandchildren. The family extends their appreciation for the excellent care provided by the SECU Hospice House as well as Johnston Health, Clayton. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the SECU Hospice House, payable to Johnston Health Foundation, P. O. Box 1376, Smithfield NC 27577.
