Emma Wessinger Paradeses

RALEIGH – Emma Wessinger Paradeses, 91, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022. She was born in Blythewood, South Carolina on April 27, 1931, the daughter of the late Marion and Ollie Wessinger. In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother. A woman of faith, Emma was an active member of her church, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Raleigh. She was the first female on the church Parish Council and served as a secretary. She was also a devoted member of Philoptochos, and served many years as a secretary, chairman of the Bereavement Committee, the Christmas Decorating Committee, and many others. Emma received her nursing degree at Roper Hospital, in Charleston, South Carolina. She worked for many years as a nurse at Mayview Convalescent Center. She was an avid gardener and served as a Master Gardener of Wake County. She offered workshops, worked plant sales, and answered phones at the extension office. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Arthur Paradeses; daughters, Pamela Greeson of Wake Forest, Stephanie Starr and husband, Wesley of Selma, Mary Wehbie and husband, Robert of Raleigh; and her grandchildren, Logan Greeson, Dakota Starr and wife, Alyssa, Hunter Starr, Alexander Boatman, Nicholas Boatman, and Marina Boatman. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Raleigh. The committal service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens in Columbia, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are strongly encouraged to me made to the Building Fund of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church: 5000 Lead Mine Rd, Raleigh, NC 27612.
