Ethel Doyle Watkins

RALEIGH – Ethel Doyle Watkins, 94, entered into her heavenly home on Sunday. She joins her late husband, Tracy Atlas Watkins, who predeceased her in 1996. She faithfully served her Lord and touched many lives through her kind, sweet and caring ways during her long life. Mom, Grandmommie, Gigi, you will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at First Baptist Church of Garner. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:15 – 1:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. She is survived by her sons, Melvin Watkins (Sharon) of Virginia Beach, VA and Lt. Col. (Ret) Alvin Watkins (Karen) of Carolina Beach, NC and her daughter, Amelia “Amy” Glarum (Ray) of Raleigh. She is also survived by grandchildren, Sonja Collins, Rani Franovich (Mike), Robert Watkins; all from Maryland, Sharon Morris (Will) of Wake Forest, Chris Glarum (Tara) of Raleigh, and Michael Watkins (Christina) of Yorktown, VA; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Rene Paulus of Salisbury, NC; sisters-in-law, Martha Tola of Apex and Mildred Whittlesey of Cary and a brother-in-law, Carey D. Watkins, Jr. (Mucie) of Coats, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Conan and Wilber Doyle and her sisters, Estelle Doyle, Lucille Duval, Shirley Nance and Phoebe Medlin.
