ANGIER– Ethel Rhodes Martin, 90, passed away on Saturday at her home with her family by her side. Born in Mississippi County, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Rhodes and Elaine Payne Rhodes. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 17th at 2:00 PM at Angier Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 16th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Ethel is survived by her children, Cecil Emmet Martin, Jr. (Barbara) of Broaddus, TX, Merian Martin of Erwin, Terry Martin (Christine) of Cary, Mikel Martin of Angier, Ronald Martin of Angier; sister, Bonnie Grady (Carlton) of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Earlye Rhodes (Lynell) of Anacoco, LA; numerous nieces and nephews; eleven grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, retired Tech Sergeant with the US Air Force and World War II veteran, Cecil Emmet Martin; sister, Mae Bell; and brothers, Joel “Dusty” Rhodes and Raymond “Buddy” Rhodes.
