Eunice Eloise House Barrow

Garner - Eunice Barrow, 97, formerly of 121 Broughton Street, went peacefully to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the evening of June 9th at Litchford Falls Healthcare in Raleigh. Born in Franklin County, Eunice was the daughter of the late Napoleon and Flora Blackley House. In addition to her parents, Eunice was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Horace Winston Barrow; brothers Maurice House, Alvin House and N.B. House, Jr., and sisters Mary House Jenkins and Eleanor House Smith. Eunice is survived by her daughters Gwendolyn Barrow ONeal and Patricia Barrow Thompson, both of Raleigh; grandson Douglas ONeal and wife Debbie of Raleigh; granddaughter Michelle ONeal Gandy and husband Curt, of Apex; great-grandsons Joshua ONeal of Raleigh, Caleb Woody and Grant Woody of Cary, and Curt Gandy, Jr., of Apex; great-granddaughters Ashley ONeal Glen and husband Justin of Raleigh, Salem Woody of Greenville, SC, Angie King and Jordan ONeal, both of Raleigh; great-great grandson Braxton Brown of Raleigh, and a great-great granddaughter due July 10th; nephews Jay House and wife Linda of Swepsonville, Eddie Clayton and wife Margie of Warrenton, Linwood Barrow of Wendell, and Kenneth Barrow and wife Joyce of Wendell; nieces Frances J. Mooneyham of Garner, Virginia S. Woodlief of Wilton, and Betty S. Strahley of Selbyville, DE; and a dear family friend Elsie Allen of Richmond, VA. Eunice graduated from Franklinton High School in 1933 and later took a business course in Raleigh. She started her career at Southern Bell and subsequently worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, N. C. Department of Revenue, Hudson-Belk, Ivey-Taylor and Boylan Pearce. Eunice was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Garner for almost 60 years and loved her church family very much. A very special thank you to Durleen Lindsey and the Homebound Ministry of First Baptist Church for delivering Wednesday night dinners to Eunice while she lived in Garner, and continuing to remember her birthday and holidays with gifts and cards. Special thanks also to staff at Phoenix Assisted Living in Cary, Litchford Falls Healthcare in Raleigh and Liberty HomeCare and Hospice in Raleigh, for their excellent care. A service of worship honoring Eunices life will be held at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 12. Family will greet family and friends an hour before the service. Graveside services will follow the worship service at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
