Eunice Harris Pitts

AUGUST 5, 1920 - JUNE 27, 2011 GARNER - Eunice Harris Pitts, 90, died Monday at her residence surrounded by her family. A native of Pamlico Co., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Eula Riggs Harris. After 25 years of service, Mrs. Pitts retired as a Vice-President of Stockton, White & Co. She was a member of Garner UMC, Garner American Legion Auxillary and a 65 year member of The Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of Garner Chapter No. 321 OES. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Garner United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Sand Hills Cemetery, Reelsboro, NC. Surviving; daughters, Harriet P. Wright of Garner, Sina P. Hofler and husband, Jim of Newport News VA; daughter-in-law, Nita P. Parker of Clayton; grandchildren Jason Wright and his wife, Emily, Jennifer W. Bennett and her husband, Taylor, Jamy Hofler Novosel, Mellette Hofler and his wife, Christina, Maureen and Ashley Pitts; six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pitts was very proud that both her daughters gave of themselves to others, Harriet as a special education teacher and Sina as a nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Harry E. Pitts in 2006, and her son Harrison E. Pitts Jr. in 1986. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Garner UMC prior to the service.
