ANGIER- Eunice Wood Rhiner, 89, passed away on Wednesday at her sister’s home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Lovett James Wood and Bettie Ivey Wood. Eunice was a kind and caring woman who didn’t hesitate to help a young person in need. She was a proud resident of Angier for many years where she served the community in multiple capacities doing things like volunteering with Meals on Wheels or the Angier Area Food Pantry. Eunice was a faithful member of Kennebec Baptist Church for many years. She worked for and retired from Variety Wholesalers in Fuquay-Varina as their office manager after 48 years of dedicated service. In retirement she worked part-time at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Angier for 15 years. She very much enjoyed trips to the Mountains of North Carolina with her beloved sister Betty Lou and family. Eunice will always be remembered for her kind heart and gentle spirit that she displayed all the days of her life. Her memory will always be cherished by those who knew her. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 28th at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. The burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. Eunice will lie in state on Sunday, December 27th from 2:00-5:00 PM and Monday, December 28th from 1:00-1:45 PM prior to the service for anyone that would like to see her and sign the register. Eunice is survived by her sister, Betty Lou Miller and her family of Dunn; godson, Samuel H. Gregory and wife, Sara of Angier; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Rhiner; a special friend, Kearney Gregory; four sisters and five brothers.
