Eva D. Puryear

Fuquay-Varina, NC – Emma Eva Belle Dupree Puryear passed away on January 10, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Eva is survived by her daughters, Donna Puryear Robinson and Charissa Puryear Plant; 5 granddaughters: Gina Robinson, Caroline Robinson, Amy Plant-Perdue, Nicole Jeffreys, Rachel Morgan, their spouses, and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lexton Lee Puryear.

Eva was born on July 21, 1935 to Carlton Fredrick Dupree and Mary Riley Dupree and was the oldest of her five siblings: Glenn F. Dupree (deceased), Claude T. Dupree, Marie Dupree Crump, Jimmie L. Dupree, and David Dupree. Eva and Lexton married in 1953. They were longtime attendees of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church in Cary, NC. She was an active member of the church and a dedicated follower of the teachings of Christ. Eva enjoyed spending time with others and maintained close relationships with family, especially her siblings, their spouses, and their children throughout her life. She loved her daughters and granddaughters fiercely and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Eva was also a career woman. Before having children, she worked at the Mason’s Lodge in Raleigh, NC. After her daughters went to school, Eva took a job as a teller at what was the Bank of Fuquay in Cary, now Fidelity Bank. She held several positions at the bank and worked there for close to 40 years as a dedicated and loyal employee.

Her visitation will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 10:00 to 10:45 am in the Bryan Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Bryan Lee Funeral Home Chapel with burial to be held at 2:00 pm at Raleigh Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
