Evelyn Betts Dewar

December 22, 1931 — December 31, 2022

Evelyn Betts Dewar, 91, of Holly Springs, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 31, 2022. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Wade Bremen Dewar; father, Hubert Fulton Betts and mother, Emma Fuquay Betts.


She resided on the family farm on Cass Holt Road, Holly Springs, NC, where she ruled the roost for some 70+ years. She was a devout christian and impacted many people on their life's journey. She attended Holly Springs Methodist Church and Shadow Ridge Baptist Church.


She is survived by her daughter, Jewell Dewar Coats; late husband, Wilbert P. Coats, II; son, Benton Wade Dewar and wife, Martha R. Dewar; grandchildren, Candi Coats Davis, husband, Michael C. Davis, Wilbert P. Coats III (Bert), Jessica Dewar Beal, and husband, Daniel T. Beal; and four great grandchildren, Ryder Coats, Chase Davis, Braylin Beal and Wade Beal.


A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm January, 4 at Shadow Ridge Baptist Church, 3400 Avent Ferry Rd, Holly Springs, NC 27540. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the time of the service.
