Ezraleen Matthews Thaxton

Duncan– Ezraleen Matthews Thaxton, 90, passed on Thursday at Western Wake Hospital in Cary. A lifelong resident of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha Reardon Matthews. A graveside service will be held Sunday, August 2nd at 2:00 PM in the Kennebec Baptist Church Cemetery, Angier. Ezraleen will be lying in state on Saturday, August 1st from 2:00-5:00 PM for anyone that would like to pay their respects and sign the register. The family will not be present during this time. Family and friends are encouraged to practice social distancing and wear a mask. Ezraleen is survived by her daughter, Joye Thaxton of Holly Springs; son, Ray Thaxton and wife, Pam of Holly Springs. In addition to her parents, Ezraleen was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Thaxton in 2003; siblings, Clara Gilbert, Mary Byrd, Retha Lee Morris, Preston Matthews and Halford Matthews.
