RALEIGH - Faith Isabel Longley, age 6, died Wednesday, August 10 at UNC Childrens Hospital. Faith was a rising first grader at The Franciscan School in Raleigh. She loved playing Barbies, Wii, jumping on the trampoline and going to the beach, but Faiths greatest passion was being with her sisters and the rest of her family. In her short life, Faith met and charmed so many people who will forever hold her spirit close. Faith is survived by her parents, Kate and Mark Longley and sisters, Emma, Megan and Grace, Grandparents Jed and Mary Mulherin, and Bob and Pat Longley. Uncles Pat (Jana) Mulherin, Mike (Stephanie) Mulherin, Tim (Beth) Mulherin, Matt (Rondallyn) Longley and Aunt Maureen (Ted) Gotterbarm and her most favorite person, Aunt Peg Mulherin, who spent countless hours getting beat at Old Maid and Go Fish, reading stories and being the student in Faiths class. Additionally, Faith is survived by many other relatives and friends who will all miss her bubbly smile. The Longley family wishes to extend their gratitude to the medical staff at UNC Childrens Hospital. In particular, the nurses in the CICC, who not only cared for Faith, but loved her and became extended family, and to Dr. Scott H. Buck whose care and compassion are unprecedented. A funeral mass to celebrate Faiths life will take place Monday, August 15 at 10:00 am, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. The Longley family will receive friends at their home on Sunday from 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Childrens Heart Foundation (http://www.childrensheartfoundation.org) or a charity of your choice.
