McGee’s Crossroads- Faye B. Roberts of McGee’s Crossroads, 84, died Dec. 30, 2020 of a sudden illness. She is survived by: three children, Chris Roberts of Newton Grove, Suzette (and Mike) Rodriguez, Burt (and Melynda) Roberts, both of McGee’s Crossroads; a grandson, Hudson of McGee’s Crossroads; and a sister, Gayle Byrd of Charlotte. Her husband, Larry, the love of her life, passed away Dec. 25, 2010. She was born Sept. 30, 1936 in Harnett County to Cleon and Inez Bailey. In addition to her younger sister Gayle, she had an older sister, Jean Powell, and older brother Laverne Bailey. Before retiring in 1998, she was a registered nurse and clinical administrator at WakeMed for 17 years. Earlier, she was a nurse in the emergency departments at Good Hope Hospital in Erwin and Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield for four years. At age 40, she pursued her life-long dream to become a nurse. She graduated with honors from Wake Technical College and excelled in her studies at Johnston Technical Institute. During her career, she blossomed into a confident health care professional who loved co-workers, patients and families. Outside of work, she was active in her church, community-service club and 4-H program while her children were young. Throughout her life, she was kind, caring and respectful of all people. She will lie in repose from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 2nd at Bryan-Lee in Angier. A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 3rd at Friendship Baptist Church at McGee’s Crossroads. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
