She then worked at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home and recently retired from the Garner Chamber of Commerce where she served as Vice-President, of Operations. She had been a member of the Garner Wells Fargo Board since early 2000. In 2008, Faye was recognized with the James R. Faye was also named Tar Heel of the Week by the News and Observer in 2013 and was recognized for her volunteer work in Garner, especially for her role as Vice President of the Garner Veterans Memorial Committee that was responsible for building the Garner Veterans Memorial located in Lake Benson Park. She was a former board member of the Towne Players of Garner and Community of Hope. Faye also worked with the YMCA of Garner, serving as a “We Build People” scholarship campaign volunteer, and a member of the Public Phase Steering Committee for the YMCA’s current Capital Campaign. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, November 7 from 5-7pm at Aversboro Road Baptist Church, 1600 Aversboro Road in Garner. Following a private interment at Montlawn Memorial Park, a celebration of her life will be held at Aversboro Road Baptist Church at 5pm on Sunday, November 8. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in her memory to organizations that were important to Faye: the Aversboro Road Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, Community of Hope, the Garner Veterans’ Memorial, or the Poole Family YMCA Capital Campaign. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 reminds us of the legacy of Faye’s life and Christian faith: “ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
