Faye D. Barbour

Faye Dennis Barbour, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday. Born in Wake County, she was the daughter of Robert Grady Dennis and Evelyn Weaver Dennis.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Burial will follow the service at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Willow Spring. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:45 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.

Faye graduated from Fuquay Springs High School and went to Campbell University before starting in the NC Department of Revenue. She worked for the State for over 35 years, ultimately ending her career in the Human Resources Department. During retirement, she and her husband, Wallace, decided they wanted to try something new and thought chicken farming might just be the ticket along with raising cattle and various crops.

Throughout her life, Faye had numerous accomplishments but she was most proud of her family and daughter, Sherry, and was incredibly involved in helping raise her granddaughters, Jessica and Megan. She was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending regularly and was a huge supporter of their many ministries and outreach programs for all age groups. Faye loved to fish, make jewelry, paint, and enjoyed spending time at the beach hunting for seashells and sand dollars. She enjoyed her garden, traveling, and having new experiences such as learning to snow ski at age 65 and going on her first cruise at age 76. She was a very talented seamstress and cook, as many can attest, and always made sure no one ever left her home hungry.

Faye may have been a bit short in stature but she made up for it with her huge heart and never-ending kindness and will be dearly missed. Faye is survived by her son-in-law, Alan Fish of Fuquay-Varina; granddaughters, Jessica Fish (Logan Knott) of Willow Spring and Megan Fish (Karen Petersen) of Willow Spring; sisters, Phyllis Carter of Chalybeate Springs and Sandra King (Quinn) of Fuquay-Varina.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, David “Wallace” Barbour; by her beloved daughter, Sherry Fish; and her brother, Larry Dennis.
