Flora Byrd Young

March 30, 1936 — November 14, 2022

ANGIER – Flora Byrd Young, 86, passed away Monday at her home. Born in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late William Byrd and Lillie Massengill Byrd.


Flora was a daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to many. Her strong will and beautiful kind heart and soft words could put anyone’s mind at ease. Her famous words always were, “Everything’s going to be all right.”


A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 12:00 pm at Plainview Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow the service at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service.


She is survived by her daughter, Cathy D. Willis (Henry Wilkins); son, Richard Young (Christina Young); grandchildren, Crystal Willis Gonzalez (Michael Gonzalez), John H. Willis, Jr. (Kelley Willis); great-grandchildren, Michael Gonzalez, Jr., Crystal-Savannah Gonzalez, Chloe Willis.


In addition to her parents, Flora was preceded by her husband, Willie H. Young, Jr.
