RALEIGH – Floyd E. Bailey, 92, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Wake County on July 31, 1930, the son of the late Betty E. Bailey. Floyd honorably served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard, and spent much of his service stationed at the Academy in New London, CT. Following his military service, Floyd embarked on a lifelong career in the TV and appliance sales and service profession, from which he retired. He was a founding member of the Durham Highway Vol. Fire Dept. and a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church for 72 years. Floyd was especially proud of his role in naming the Wildcats as mascot for Millbrook High School. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bobbie E. Bailey. Floyd is survived by his daughter, Renee Callahan and husband, Randy; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Raleigh. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church one hour prior to the service. A graveside committal will follow on Monday, August 15, at 10:00 AM in Raleigh Memorial Park.
