Floyd Meadows, Jr.

GARNER - Floyd Woody Meadows Jr. suddenly left us to be with our Lord on Saturday January 25, 2014. He was born on November 14, 1956. Woody served his country proudly for the U.S. Navy with Honorable Discharge (1975-1982) as hospital corpsman. He continued to help people as operating room technician for over 8 yrs. at New Hanover Hospital (Wilmington, NC). He changed careers and pursued a new challenge in electronics which he worked 13 yrs. for Wilmington Dept. of Transportation followed by NC DOT (2006-present) in the field as Signal System Design Engineer. Woodys passion for the Boy Scouts of America carried through his life. He remained an active member in the Cape Fear Council of the Boy Scouts of America/Troop Leader of Troop 206. He achieved the highest rank of scouting (Eagle Scout, Troop 283/ Oct.30, 1972) He also enjoyed NASCAR racing, U.S. History, and coin collecting. Woody was the beloved husband of Diane (Samsel) Meadows, whom he married on March 18, 1980. Left behind to cherish his memory are his two children, Elizabeth Meadows of Raleigh, N.C., Nicholas (Sarah) Meadows of Raleigh, N.C. Also, sister-in-laws, Karen and Cheryl Samsel, both residents of Pennsylvania; sister, Lisa Meadows and nieces (Courtney and Jackie) of Florida; and cousin and dear friend, Tony Dolin and family, of Florida. Woody will be sadly missed not only by his loving family who will cherish his memory and devotion but by all those he befriended during his lifetime. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 North 15th Street Wilmington, N.C. 28401 at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014. Relatives and friends will be welcomed to share favorite story, anecdote or remembrance of Woody.
