Frankie Carol Atkinson

Frankie Carol Atkinson, 81, passed away on Monday, July 3rd, 2023 while surrounded by her family. Born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Carroll D. and Ernestine Norton.

Carol married Walter H. Atkinson in October of 1960 in Pine Bluff, AR. Due to his service in the Marine Corps, they lived in many places over the years before settling in Helena, AR and much later Raleigh, NC.

Carol supported her husband as a Marine Corps wife and though she worked many roles over the years, she most enjoyed her time working at the Sheriff's Department in Pine Bluff, AR. However, her favorite role was that of mother and was one at which she excelled. She was always there for her children, supportive, caring, there to lend an ear, kiss away the boo-boos, and wrap her arms around them in love and comfort.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Walter H. Atkinson of Raleigh; children, Jeffery H. Atkinson (Crissy) of West Helena, AR; Carroll David Atkinson of Raleigh; Kim A. Jewell (Chris) of Angier; and Susan G. DeThomas (Rob) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jeff Atkinson, Bryer Jewell, Haley Atkinson, and Walker Jewell; and sister-in-law Claudia Norton of Pine Bluff.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Dale Norton.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, July 7th from 2 - 4 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Rd, Garner, NC. Please join us in celebrating her life.
