ANGIER –Fred Hopkins Dupree, 95, passed away on Sunday at Universal Health Care. Born in Wake County, he was the son of the late Arlie Dupree and Ila Mae Myatt Dupree.
Fred worked all over the state in his job as an electrician, but he also had many other talents, including woodworking, and building birdhouses and barn signs. He cared for his community and helped build the fire station in Angier. Fred also loved to go salt-water fishing so much that his family called him the ‘sheephead king’ due to his knack for always catching them.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Pearce (Roger); sisters, Mary Belle Denson, and Nell Williams; grandchildren, Kim Duff (fiancé Stacy Hobson), Johnathan Smith, Brian Braswell (Jami), Amber Rogerson (Sean), Nicole Elliott (Jason) and Nathan Dupree (Tabitha); great-grandchildren, Dallas, Hannah, Mia, Bryson, Collin, Benjamin, Kayleigh, Autumn, Conner, Ethan, Leah, and Gavin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Dupree; son, Donald Dupree, daughter, Denise Kissel, and sisters, Rebecca Smith, Willie Mae Mills, Emma Penny Walton; and brothers, Willis and Clifton Dupree.
