ANGIER – Fred J. Byrd, 82 passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. Fred worked in the construction business for many years as a brick mason. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War earning several awards during his tour of duty, including the Bronze Star. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday August 15, 2015 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Angier. Burial to take place at the Byrd-Williams Family Cemetery with Military Honors. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Faye James Byrd; daughters, Wanda Brown and husband Robert Biegel, Virginia Beasley and husband Richard; son, Ralph Byrd and wife Karol; brother, Edison Byrd; sister, Mavor Gregory; grandchildren, Christian Kepley and husband Bradlee Kepley, Sr., Amanda Clapp and husband James and Deven Byrd; great-grandchildren, Alexis Jones, Bradlee Kepley, Jr., Gavin Bogacki , Hailey Clapp and Alayna Clapp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Marvin Byrd and Raford Byrd; sisters, Callie Fish, Alice McLeod, Retha Arrington, Edna Hargis and Rosie Byrd; and great-grandchild, Lee Clapp. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday from 6 – 8 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.
