ANGIER – Freddie Lane Stancil, 72, passed away Wednesday surrounded by his loving family. A native of Johnston County, he was the son of the late Alex Ray Stancil and Eula Gregory Stancil. He was a devoted member of Angier Baptist Church, tobacco farmer, and owner of Stancil Builders Inc. for 36 years. Freddie is known for his love of hunting, fishing on the Double 07, his family and spending time in Morehead City. Papa Freddie’s passion for hunting and the outdoors didn’t end with his death, it lives on with his grandchildren. A successful businessman who started out as a tenant farmer turned real-estate developer left a mark on every person he had encountered. If you knew Freddie, you knew he never met a stranger. He was the most generous, kind-hearted, loyal person to everyone he ever met and leaves a legacy that will never be forgotten.
Freddie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathy Stancil; daughter, Julie Stancil Moore, and husband Henry of Clinton; son, Bradley Stancil, and wife Kristi of Willow Spring; brother, Phil Stancil of Coats; grandchildren, Alex Raynor and fiancé Tripp McDonald, Jared Raynor, Fisher, Saylor, River and Tyde Stancil and Henry IV and Piper Moore.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 4th at Angier Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service in Stancil Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Saturday, December 3rd at Angier Baptist Church.
