ANGIER – Frederick Joseph Cencelewski, 75, passed away at UNC Health Johnston in Clayton
on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Fred was a leap year child born on February 29, 1948 in South
Bend, IN and liked to joke that he was “only a teenager”. He was the son of the late Frederick
George Cencelewski and Alice Mrozinski Cencelewski. He was also preceded in death by his
brother, Timothy “Timmy” Cencelewski.
Fred began his career at South Bend Range working on commercial-grade cooking equipment,
along with holding other positions within the company. In his later years, he became skilled in
pharmaceutical welding. Growing up with his brothers, they shared a love of working on their
cars and even raced them one time. He honorably served his country in the U.S Army Reserves
for 6 years. He was a loving father, hard-working, always tending to what needed to be done at
home, helping others to fix things and landscaping his yard. He instilled that passion into his
children as they grew up. He enjoyed spending time with family, western movies, occasional
beach trips and NASCAR races. Most of all, he was a true Notre Dame football fan who sported
his Fighting Irish gear and always watched the games on tv. You always knew when it was game
day!
A private graveside service will be held at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier.
Fred is survived by his daughters, Lori Jackson (Bobby) of Angier and Lisa Stephens (Joseph) of
Lillington; sons, Eric Cencelewski (Michelle) of Wendell, Ryan Cencelewski (Angie) of
Fuquay-Varina, and Michael Holland (Heather) of Lillington; brother, Jim Cencelewski (Sandy)
