Raleigh-G. Ray Pittman, age 75 passed away December 6, 2018 surrounded by his family, after a six year battle with lung cancer. He was born October 24,1943 in Kenly, NC to Willard R. Pittman and Lettie Mae Raper Pittman. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as a brother and sister. Ray graduated barber school in 1963 and became a long time fixture in Cameron Village cutting and styling many peoples hair over the years even multiple generations of families. It was truly his aim to give people the haircut they wanted and help them look their best. Even after retirement he continued to cut some of his long time customers hair just due to his not being able to leave them and they were not just his customers, but his friends. On May 10,1969, he and Sandra Pennington were married and enjoyed over 49 years together, who survives him along with their son Brandon Ray Pittman and his wife Monica. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1969 and remained very active in his faith right up till his death. One of the things he enjoyed most was his involvement in his faith’s public ministry. A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ray’s name to 3HC, Home Health and Hospice, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534. The family wishes to express a special thanks to The Duke University Cancer Center and his hospice nurse Debbie Denlinger who truly made a bad situation bearable.
