Ganatious R. “Sonny” Lester

Ganatious R. “Sonny” Lester, 70, of Raleigh passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014, after battling many years of diabetes and heart disease. He was born to Ganatious and Daphine Lester of Rocky Mount, NC on February 5, 1944. Sonny had many jobs but his most rewarding was his many years teaching at Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School. Sonny is survived by his companion, Gayle Hardy Franks. He was also survived by his children John and wife Melissa, Angie and husband David, & Melinda and husband Bill. Sonny had 5 grandchildren whose names are Jordan and wife Karissa, Summer and husband Mike, Nicole,Devin and husband Buddy, and Conner.Family will receive loved ones during visitation at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Raleigh on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 11:30am - 1:30pm. Immediately following visitation there will be a graveside service to be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh. Pastor Phil Leonard will be officiating. Flowers are welcome, but contributions can be made on his behalf to the American Diabetes Association or Autism Speaks Foundation.
