Genevieve P. Lipscomb

RALEIGH - Mary Genevieve Pendergraft Lipscomb passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. She was blessed with 85 wonderful years. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, Levy and Leone Pendergraft; brother, Bobby Pendergraft; sister, Jean Poole; and husband of 64 years, Joseph Lee Lipscomb, Sr. She is survived by her son, Joseph Lee Lipscomb, Jr.; her sister, Dorothy Lewis; her lifelong friend, Shirley Gullie, and many family members, close friends, and neighbors. Genevieve was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, caregiver, and friend to so many and will be missed dearly by all those who love her. She and her husband Joe traveled the country and so many were able to see it through her eyes, her words, and her pictures. She grew up in Apex, NC and was a longtime member of Carolina Pines Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the church (2655 South Saunders Street, Raleigh, NC 27603). The visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Garner, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 am prior to the funeral service at 11:00 am. The graveside service will follow at Apex Cemetery, 315 West Williams Street, Apex, NC.
