George Anthony Clark, 69, of Raleigh, NC, made his trip to heaven August 24, 2015. He was the first son of Betty McKee Clark and the late George William Clark, George graduated from Scotland Neck High School in 1964 and received a BA in Engineering Operations from North Carolina State University in 1972. George worked with Champion Products in Wendell, Clayton, and Norwich NY; MacGregor/Sand Knit, Green Lake WI; Rawlings, St. Louis MO; Izod, Greensboro NC; Bassett Walker/VF Corp, Martinsville VA; Ithaca, Wilkesboro NC; and Anvil Knit, Asheville NC. George’s career took him from engineer to VP of Operations and Manufacturing, and he prided himself in being known as a “shaker and mover” in the textile industry. In 2003 he retired from textiles to open Window Graphics and Signs By Design in Raleigh, NC, from which he retired in 2010. George was awarded the Purple Heart for service in Vietnam in 1969. George was an active member of Millbrook United Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC. He led several Lay Witness missions. He loved to travel in his motor home. George is survived by his wife Maggie Grady Clark, son Fred and wife Amy Clark of Wake Forest, daughter Susan and husband Ken Head of Wake Forest, step-grandson Jackson Head, mother Betty McKee Clark of Scotland Neck NC, brother Bill and wife Sue Clark, brother Tim and wife Linda Clark, sister Sandra and husband Ted Rocha, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father George W. Clark and his brother Jim Clark. And a special thanks to Tabitha Taylor, who provided loving support as his caregiver for the past 2 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Millbrook UMC Memorial Fund, 1712 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh 27609 or the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation (Donation Processing, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014, www.michaeljfox.org) A service will held be at 2:00PM Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Millbrook UMC. The family will greet friends and family at a reception at the church following the service.
