George Bright

WINSTON-SALEM - George Bright passed away on July 15, 2022, from complications of a stroke. He was born on May 27, 1959 in Winston-Salem, NC. George graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1977. He went to college at NC State University and studied electrical engineering. He had many different jobs. He worked at a pizza place and NC State. After college, he did environmental testing for a couple of companies, glass replacing, and was a long-distance truck driver. His most recent job was in maintenance for the Wake County School System for 16 years and 2 months. George enjoyed working on cars. He participated in events with Tar Heel Sports Car Club, SCCA Central Carolinas, and SCCA NC Region. He worked timing and scoring for the Chimney Rock Hill Climb. He drove in 5 Chimney Rock Gravity Tub Hill Falls and once for the on at Grandfather Mountain. He was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Bright; his brother, John Bright; and his mother, Patricia Cash Bright. He is survived by his sister, Susan Bright and her husband William; his cousins Cathy Cash and Cindy Jackman and their children; and his cat, Little Girl. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 13, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC 27604. In lieu of flowers, please consider the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284, or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
