George Brummer Kincaid

March 2, 1934 — September 16, 2024

RALEIGH – George Brummer Kincaid, 90, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024. He was born in New Hampshire, on March 2, 1934, and was the son of the late George Brummer Kincaid, Sr., and Beatrice Elise Kincaid. He was the fourth of their five children.

George grew up in Dover, NH. He was a graduate of Dover High School and began his studies at The University of New Hampshire. He received his Bachelor's degree in Economics from The University of Hartford. He married his high school sweetheart Shirley in August 1953 in Maine and they established their home in Dover where they welcomed their first son, George.

George Sr. served in the US Army stationed in Maryland from 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957. George and Shirley relocated to Windsor, CT and became very active in their community and their church and made many lifelong friends. In Windsor, George and Shirley added a son, Tom and a daughter, Kathleen to their family.

George and Shirley moved to Raleigh, NC in 1972, where he established a career as a Safety Engineer. He quickly added NCSU to his lineup of favorite sports teams which included the Boston Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed season tickets for NCSU football and could often be found tailgating with friends and family cheering on the Wolfpack.

George was a dedicated husband to Shirley, championing her education and business pursuits. One of their favorite things to do was travel. They enjoyed taking trips together to stay connected to family, creating many fun memories at Emerald Isle and Myrtle Beach. They traveled around the US as well as ventured beyond. He was her dedicated caregiver for many years until her death in 2011.

George had the good fortune to meet his fiance Eileen Gunther later in life. The two of them enjoyed traveling and living a good life together until his death.

George was a loving and supportive fiance, husband, Dad, Grandpa, Papa and Great Papa who gave us the gift of family, curiosity for life, and the love of a shared laugh. He was beloved and we will miss him dearly.

George is survived by his fiancé, Eileen of Raleigh; sons, George, Jr., of Knightdale, and Tom of Wake Forest; daughter, Kathleen and wife, Martha of New York; 6 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
