George Donald Barefoot

RALEIGH – George Donald Barefoot, 84, passed away unexpectedly on October 10, 2024. He was born in Raleigh North Carolina, on July 24, 1940, and was the son of the late George Grover Barefoot, and Sallie Rowe Barefoot.

George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends as a man of great charisma, compassion, and strength.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Jewell Barefoot; brothers, Rupert Barefoot, and Elwood Barefoot; and sister Katherine Mangum, all of whom he loved very dearly.

George is survived by his daughter, Tammy Barefoot Harrison; step-daughters, Peggy Jo Hughes (Jack) of La Vale, Maryland, Beverly Melmed (Mark) of Cumberland, Maryland, and Denise Rinker (Randy Rhodeheaver) of Estero, Florida; step-sons, Victor Rinker (Melodie) of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Jason Rinker (Hannah) of Frederick, Maryland; sister, Frances Austin of Garner, North Carolina; nieces, Janet Carlyle (Billy) of Zebulon, North Carolina, and Darlene Miller (John) of Cooper City, Florida; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. George is also survived by Coco H. Dinh and her two children, Victoria Nguyen, and Wynturn Nguyen, who were so close to his heart that he truly viewed them as a part of his family.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603.
