ANGIER- Georgia Christ Kolaras Witt, 64, passed away on Thursday. She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Georgia spent most of her adult life in Freeport, Illinois working at Freeport Memorial Hospital in the operating room as a nurse from 1979 to 2004. She also attended New Beginnings Church in Rock City, Illinois. In 2004 Georgia moved to Angier, North Carolina where she worked at Dorothea Dix Hospital and Harnett County Correctional Facility. While in North Carolina she attended Fellowship of Christ Church in Cary and most recently Manna Capitol Area Church in Willow Spring. The family is going to have a service of remembrance at a later date to celebrate Georgia’s life. She is survived by her mother, Edith Lynne Kolaras of Hope Valley, Rhode Island; daughter, Jodi Witt-Bailey and husband, Thomas of Angier; grandson, Cameron Witt; son, Matthew T. Witt and wife, Irene of Ellijay, GA; sisters, Mary C. Johnston and husband, Charlie of Denver, CO; Elaine C. Willougby and husband, Paul of Winthrop, Maine and her brother, Jim Kolaras and wife, Deborah of Manchester, New Hampshire. Georgia is preceded in death by her father, Christ George Kolaras and her brother, George C. Kolaras.
