We mournfully announce the passing of Gerald Dillard. Gerald was the first son of the late Claude and Trena Dillard of Lenoir, North Carolina, where he spent his childhood. He went on to attend NC State University. He met his late wife, Sherry Dillard, in Raleigh, NC. Gerald and Sherry Dillard had and raised his surviving daughter Greer Dillard, in Garner, NC. Gerald remarried to his second and last love, Angela Dillard, and spent his remaining years working, living, and cooking his famous barbeque in Garner, NC. Gerald is survived by his wife, Angela Dillard; daughter, Greer Dillard; stepdaughter, Ashley Hodges; brothers Lonnie and Wallace Dillard; and grandchildren, Lua and Maverick Smith.
Gerald will be warmly remembered for his love for his family, love of cooking, storytelling, jokes, and making others laugh. Gerald and Angela spent their precious time together enjoying high action movies and trying new restaurants. Gerald excelled in many professional arenas and has been recognized for his accolades as a personal banker at Truist. Gerald relished being a new Paw Paw and enjoyed visiting, playing, and reading with his granddaughter.
Gerald left a meaningful legacy with his family and will be remembered and celebrated forever. Visitation will be at 1:00, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 on Saturday , February 17th at Aversboro Road Baptist Church in Garner, NC. An additional celebration of life will be held Monday February 19th at 1:00 pm at Laytown Baptist Church in Lenoir, NC.
