ANGIER – Gertha Adams Mangum, 102, passed away Thursday at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Dorsey and Nicey Ivey Adams. Gertha was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who has gone to be with her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Angier Baptist Church for 84 years and a founding member of the Golden Gems. Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm at Angier Baptist Church, Angier. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. In addition to her parents, Gertha is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John Dee Mangum; daughter, Sharion Dugger; brothers, Halford, Roy, Rosvil and Cadwell Adams. She is survived by her daughters, Ruth M. Hockaday and husband, Fred of Raleigh, Donna M. Cobb and husband, Earl of Angier; son, John Dee Mangum, Jr. and wife, Betty of Angier; son-in-law, Arley J. Dugger of Angier; sister-in-law, Christine G. Adams, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Angier Baptist Church “New Roof Project”, 155 S. Hickory St. Angier, NC 27501 or to the charity of your choice in Gertha’s memory.
