Glenda “Honey” Quinn Walston, 74, softly surrendered on Sunday morning at her home in the loving arms of her children after a long and courageous 24 year battle with cancer. Honey, as she was lovingly referred to by her grandchildren and others, was born in Norfolk VA to Edward “Jabo” Stroud and Louise Stroud Kilpatrick. She was raised by her paternal grandparents, Hedrick and Erma Stroud. She grew up in Pink Hill, NC. An accomplished hairdresser and businesswoman, she ran her own shop in Garner for many years where she valued her customers as her family. Honey enjoyed fishing, bingo, casino trips and beach time. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family especially events with her wonderful grandchildren. A truly unique woman, she was an awesome grandmother, a mother to many and was deeply loved and will be missed by all who were blessed to know her. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Survivors include her daughters, Jody Gardner (Ricky) of Nashville, NC, Angie Medlin (Leonard) of Raleigh and Donna Hunter (Mike) of Angier; son, Michael Quinn (Karen Eason) of Garner; stepdaughter, Laura Kay Thompson; her beloved grandchildren, Jenna Gardner, Sydney Medlin, Wyatt Medlin, Michael Hunter, Jr, Hayden Hunter, Justin Quinn, Harley and Christopher Brewer; four great-grandchildren, as well as the father of her four children, Leo Quinn.
