RALEIGH - Glenn Elwood Pleasant, Sr., 78, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012. He was born June 29, 1933 in Coats, NC to the late James Talton Pleasant and Ettie Messer Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, J.L. Pleasant and daughter-in-law, Sallie D. Pleasant. In 1992, after 42 years of service, he retired from the American Chicle Division of Warner Lambert. He was a dedicated and loyal employee who loved being a sales representative and traveling throughout the state of NC making friends wherever he went. He was often referred to as the Dentyne Man. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday at Turner Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Annie Mae Barefoot Pleasant; four children, Glenn (Sandra) of Raleigh, Ann P. Wilson (Todd) of Chesterfield, VA, John (Donna) of Raleigh and Randy (Pam) of Clayton; his grandchildren, Brad (Leigh), Blake, Jackson, Clara, Lindie, Madeline and Savannah; great-grandchild, Reagan and step-grandchildren, Amber and Shane; step great-grandchildren, Taylor and Lynzie; brothers, Wesley, Sherrill, Gerald, Cecil and Robert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 pm Saturday at Bryan-Lee funeral Home, Garner.
