Gloria Watson Rivers

LOUISBURG - Gloria Watson Rivers was born on April 12,1945, to the late Roger and Evora Watson in Windsor NC and departed this life on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Gloria was one of seven children, and all preceded her in death along with her late husband Brodus Rivers Sr., and one beloved son Kenneth Watson. Gloria’s former education was located in Windsor NC. She was a fun, and fiery woman who kept an immaculate home and loved beautiful things. She loved serving her community using her gift of help. Gloria was a self- employed home service provider in Newport News VA, where she resided and retired. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church until her health failed and while there she received a Certificate of Completion in the First Principles of Discipleship Training. Gloria leaves to cherish her memory; four children, Dennis Watson of Little Washington NC, Joyce Ann Smallwood (James) of Hampton VA, Brodus Rivers Jr. of Newport News VA, and Victor Lee Rivers (Brigitte) of Youngsville NC; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, along with a special niece Frances Thompson of Newport News VA, who helped care for her. We the family of the late Gloria Watson Rivers would like to thank our many friends, and neighbors who have reached out to us during this time of bereavement. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff of the Franklin Oak Nursing Home of Louisburg NC, for their exceptional care and kindness shown during her short stay in North Carolina. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Wake Forest Cemetery, 400 N. White St., Wake Forest, NC. Arrangements are by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Raleigh.
