Graye Byrd Langley

October 25, 1927 — July 15, 2020

Garner – Graye Langley went to her eternal home on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. She was born in Hopewell, Virginia, but was a long-time native of Wake County. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Pauline Byrd. Graye graduated from the Johnston County School System. She worked with Northwest Mutual Life Insurance Company for many years before retiring and having a second career as an administrative assistant at Fuller Elementary School in Raleigh. Graye is preceded in death by her husband, E. J. “Joe” Langley, sister Grace McLeod and brother Willis Paul Byrd. She is survived by her son Roger and wife Donna of Garner, North Carolina; sisters Frances Byrd of New Bern, Rebecca Bailey of Garner and Jenette Hanson of Indian Land, South Carolina; brothers Donnie Byrd of Smithfield and Tom Stanley of Savannah, Georgia. She is also survived by granddaughters Stacey Jorgenson and husband Kevin of Angier, and Lori Webb and husband Travis of Fuquay-Varina, along with great granddaughter Chloe Webb and great grandsons Grant Webb, Jack Jorgenson and Will Jorgenson. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and attended First Baptist Church of Garner until declining health no longer made it possible. A graveside service will held 10:00 am Monday at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family would like to express our sincerest appreciation to those who visited her and made her day a little brighter. Also, a very sincere “thank you” to the incredible loving and caring staff at Lawndale Manor Assisted Living Center, Garner, and the Hospice staff who cared for her the past several years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to your favorite charity or Special Olympics of North Carolina.
