Gregory Powell Rasor, 45, died unexpectedly at home as a result of an aortic aneurysm. He was born in Raleigh, NC to James and Mollie Rasor. A graduate of Apex High School, he attended ECU School of Art for two years. Then he transferred to the newly established Culinary Arts Program at Wake Technical Community College and was one of the first graduates of that program. Gregs professional career began at Prestonwood Country Club. He was Sous Chef at both Prestonwood and Governors Club. He then became Executive Chef at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel. After this, Greg spent several years helping friends establish various endeavors in the culinary field. His most current project was a restaurant supply and consulting company, which was co-owned with Wake Tech classmate Norman Couture. Greg was an Eagle Scout and winner of numerous culinary awards. Greg is survived by his loving parents Jim and Mollie Rasor, his brother Lee and sister-in-law Cristina. His aunts, uncles and cousins loved him and will miss Gregs dry humor and kindness. Services will be held at Christ Church, Raleigh on Saturday, April 12th at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends in the Church Parlor immediately after the service.
