Gretchen B. Douillette

Gretchen Beaman Douillette, 82, a resident of Spring Arbor of Raleigh, died Tuesday at Rex Healthcare. She was born in Edgecombe County and was the daughter of the late George W. and Ruby Gwatney Beaman. She was the widow of David L. Douillette, Jr. who died in 2001. Gretchen was a retired telephone operator with Bell South and a very active member of the Pioneers and of Temple Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.She is survived by a sister-in-law Maverine Taylor of Raleigh; nephew, Robert C. Beaman of Edenton; nieces Nell Oldham and Beverly Adams of Garner, and Vicki Austin of Smithfield. She is also survived by many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Temple Baptist Church. Visitation will follow in the church family life center.
